Shot down the first time in April, Governor Brown is going to try it AGAIN!  His second revised budget completely killing the HAYDEN’S ACT is being presented this Monday, May 14th, 2012 according to the LA Times.  

On April 11, 2012, the California State Legislature unanimously rejected Brown’s attempts to repeal Hayden’s Act.  Both Senate and Assembly are on board with those of us who want our sheltered pets protected.  The Hayden’s Act provides mandated holding periods before the pets are euthanized to six days, giving owners and rescues time to get the pets out. It also requires the lost pets to be posted.  There are requirements for shelters to stay open non-business day hours so people can get their pets out after work and on weekends.  The shelters also must work with rescues.  If Hayden’s Act is dissolved, there will be absolutely no protection for California Shelter Pets.

You can help by contacting Brown and discouraging him from this deadly repeal!  Doing so will save the lives of millions.

**RESCUED** by BRLA!!!!!!! (Boxer Rescue of Los Angeles)

This is a plea for Stella.  I’ve been watching her pictures and video since she came into the Baldwin Park Shelter, CA on April 18th.  They first put her as 2 years old, but by looking at her face, you can understand she’s older…. they now have 5.  Please watch her video.  She is the sweetest angel anyone would fall in love with.  She is ULTIMATE URGENT and I’m sending out a cry for her since she sits quietly in a strange place waiting to be killed.  NEEDS OUT NOW!

May 5, 2012…. I just received an email that this group of $15 dogs MUST BE ADOPTED/RESCUED TODAY by 2:00!  Please help them!

Henry E. Brock…… you sorry excuse for a man…..

Last summer, this man’s ex-wife filmed him while he kicked, dragged, and used a cattle prod on this 10-year-old Senior dog last year!  The video speaks for itself!  Alexis Brock said the dog didn’t like being on a chain, and that Brock started beating it while she and their 2-year-old son watched!

Unfortunately a long time went by before this was discovered, and we don’t know how many times it happened to this dog or any other.  Alexis Brock, no longer living with her ex, turned the cell phone video over to State Police in March.  They used it as evidence to arrest him for a felony; torture of a dog with serious injury.  The dog was removed by police and animal control.  He has since bonded out of jail, awaiting his hearing.

Here is the video.  WARNING!  It is very graphic and you will probably feel the same as we do after you watch it!  This man needs to go to jail for a VERY long time before he hurts another animal OR HUMAN!  What sort of person does this?

A 64-year-old breeder, Sylvia Penetta, was arrested and charged with animal cruelty in Middletown, New York.  On a tip, the police raided her home and found 76 dogs, most who were Rottweilers, who she had been breeding and selling.  The conditions were awful enough to seize the dogs, two being injured.  Penetta was selling the dogs on her website,   Karousel Kennels.   Some of the most serious  dogs were taken by local rescues, but area shelters are not equipped to handle such a load intake.  Pets Alive Rescue, a local organization, has offered to take the rest of the dogs when the judge orders the seizure.
