San Bernardino City Shelter …giving no time for shelter pets to live!

San Bernardino City in California has claimed Bankruptcy.  What does this mean for the shelter pets?  They have become casualties of politics and as of this day being EUTHANIZED at outrageous rates over at the San Bernardino CITY Animal Shelter.  These pets have 4 days for their owners to reclaim them.  If they are not returned, they will be euthanized sometimes within the next day.  There is NO TIME for rescues to step in and help these pets.  Money again wins over Life!  Is there no shame in how easy it is to kill?  We as a community need to look at this situation with our hearts.  Please help a pet and save its life.  Click HERE for San Bernardino Animal Control Link.

BUCK, the blind pit bull from a rescue gone wrong, has been found dead.

We have watched his search for over a week, with all hearts trying to speak to an older blind pit bull named Buck whose fate was caused by a rescue gone wrong.  He was found in a concrete hole in Watts, possibly one used for city electrical.  He was still wearing his collar and leash.  We don’t know if he wandered in there, or if he was placed.  Facebook has exploded with theories, sending those reporting into arguments into which is the true story.  It has been reported that an investigation is under way.

When a pet is rescued from a shelter, it is to be placed in safe hands.  This was not the case.  A credible rescuer will have foster agreements, adoption contracts, and personal home-checks.  It appears none of this was done for Buck’s safety.  The “rescuer” who the “puller” gave Buck to was in fact banned from receiving pets from the surrounding shelters, and yet she acquired Buck.  Buck is now dead, and it was not for any reason of his own doing.  He was a wonderful special needs dog who depended on people to help him. People failed Buck. The system failed Buck. The question is, what are we going to learn from this and do differently in the future?

We’re so sorry, Buck.

76 Rottweilers found at a breeder’s home in Middletown, NY. Owner arrested.

A 64-year-old breeder, Sylvia Penetta, was arrested and charged with animal cruelty in Middletown, New York.  On a tip, the police raided her home and found 76 dogs, most who were Rottweilers, who she had been breeding and selling.  The conditions were awful enough to seize the dogs, two being injured.  Penetta was selling the dogs on her website,   Karousel Kennels.   Some of the most serious  dogs were taken by local rescues, but area shelters are not equipped to handle such a load intake.  Pets Alive Rescue, a local organization, has offered to take the rest of the dogs when the judge orders the seizure. Until then, the dogs stay, apparently . Here is their website:  Pets Alive Animal Sanctuary, Middletown, NY, Hudson Valley.
